Hiking, Kansas City Style!

Great Hiking Trails in the Kansas City Area

In Which Category Do You Fall Under?

Hello, to all of you outdoor enthusiasts (and even you outdoor-enthusiast wannabes) … this is the blog for you!

Let’s face it, full-on serious hiking is not for everyone.  The IDEA of hiking always sounds appealing, but in the actuality of it, the event of getting out there for true, genuine hiking is for a select group of people.  More power to those of you who take the sport seriously, and invest in all the cool outdoorsy equipment!

To more of the mass population, “hiking” could constitute more of a purposeful “stroll” and have the ability to encompass more of those who dutifully say they enjoy “hiking” when asked for their resume of hobbies.  Getting out and enjoying the outdoors can certainly be appreciated by EVERYONE especially if it doesn’t include any steep inclines.

The fresh air and beautiful scenery you will be able to experience when you partake in your hike, are definitely good for the soul and that is something surely most of us can appreciate!

Set Out for An Adventure

Wherever you fall in the category of the “I enjoy hiking” classification, there is bound to be somewhere on the following list of hiking spots where you can put on your boots, or a sturdy pair of sneakers and venture off shouting, “I am going on an adventure!” ala Bilbo Baggins, (without worrying about any orks or dragons, hopefully).

Being in the Midwest, we may not have high peaked mountains, but we certainly have plenty of places to see the beauty in the plains, prairies, and the perfectly imperfect woodsy plats within Missouri and Kansas.  While you are out there, keep an eye out for the native birds of our area, which are referenced in the visual chart here !)
